Additional instructions and Help with Downloading and Installing the update
Here’s some additional information to help you get the new install file saved and installed if you need it.
The SAVE / Download process will vary depending on which Browser you are using to SAVE / Download the install file. Some browsers will automatically save the install file to your Downloads Folder when you click the link. Some browsers will open a dialog box and ask you what you want to do with the file (Save / Save As / Open).
If you click the link and no dialog box opens and it appears nothing happened, then it is automatically saving it to your Downloads Folder. So just navigate to your Downloads Folder and double-click the install file at the top to run the update.
If your browser opens the download dialog box, just click SAVE and when it’s done downloading you can click Run or Open and the update will start.
If you’re using Microsoft Edge, when you click the download link it will look like this.

Click SAVE if prompted and it will download the install file to your Downloads Folder. Some Edge browsers just automatically save the File to your Downloads Folder as soon as you click the link.

Clicking “Open file” as shown above will start the install process.
If your browser has automatically saved the install file to your Downloads Folder – or if you specified a different location to save the file – just navigate to that Folder and double-click the file to start the install process.

Depending on your browser the steps will be similar – but you may have to locate the install file you saved and then double-click it to start the install. Most browsers will Save it to the Downloads Folder by default – unless you specify a different location to save the file. If you get the option to “Open” or “Run” after the file is downloaded, just choose that.
Chrome should look similar. NOTE: Most Chrome browsers will automatically download the install file as soon as you click the link – without any prompt or dialog box. If you’re on Chrome and click the link and it seems like “nothing happened” then just go to your Downloads Folder and you will see the install file in there.
The name of the install file is Power-Emini-Alerts-Setup-v48.exe if you need to locate it on your computer – Just Run the install by double-clicking it.
When you click to Run the install, you will see the UAC screen pop up – just click Yes

That will start the install process. Click to accept the license.

Just click Next, Next, Next and it will walk you through the install process – and create a new shortcut icon on your Desktop.
NOTE: You won’t need to re-enter your activation codes / credentials.
The Shortcut Icon on your Desktop will looks like this and it will probably be in a different place on your Desktop than it was before – so look carefully. (if you have a dark Desktop background it might be difficult to see.

Just double-click that icon to launch the Power Emini Alert Software.
Things to be aware of when you run the update
- If your anti-virus software pops up with a message – choose to “allow” or “trust this file”
- The existing version of the Alert Software software must be closed to run the update / install
- You have to be logged into your computer as the Administrator in order to install the software (it’s rare that you aren’t already logged in as the Admin)
- You can keep the install file you downloaded but you launch the actual Alert Software from the (new) shortcut icon on your Desktop
- It’s a good idea to close any other programs you have running before installing (leaving your browser open is ok)
- If you’re not hearing the audio alerts after updating just restart your computer
As I mentioned, this is just a back-end update to the Alert Software to improve connectivity and efficiency. The actual Alerts are not affected or changed at all. Everything will work in the exact same way as the previous version but this update lays the foundation for an upcoming “enhanced version” of the Alert Software.
