Announcing a HUGE Breakthrough in the Momentum System and Strategy
After analyzing over 400 Alerts that came through or software since the beginning of 2020 we made some game-changing enhancements and modifications to the system.
Before I explain the new enhancements – let’s review how the Momentum System works and the basic concepts.
The Power Emini Momentum System is a “Range Breakout” system that virtually guarantees you’ll be in a trade any time the market makes a significant directional move.
Shortly after the market opens (cash session) the system displays what we call the “Dynamic Trigger Range”. When the price breaks out of that range in either direction the system begins looking for an optimal entry point – Long above the top of the range and short below the bottom of the range.
The Alert Software then fires off both an audio and visual alert to go long or short above or below that level. As soon as price has a 1-minute close past that level the software gives an “entry confirmation” and displays the initial stop as well as 2 Targets.
So the software gives you the Entry, initial stop, 2 targets and trailing stops – so the system can be traded purely mechanically. No guesswork – no complicated indicators to analyze – and no ambiguity.
So now that we’re a couple months into the New Year – trading the new and enhanced system – I wanted to share some of the changes we made to improve the performance and accuracy of the Momentum System.
As I mentioned based on extensive analysis of over 400 previous Alerts – and a year’s worth of market conditions and different types of sessions – we made some major enhancements to the Momentum System that have vastly improved the accuracy and results.
Here’s What’s New:
– The Momentum System has 2 Targets now instead of 3.
We determined that instead of selling at a 3rd target it was more profitable to hold any remaining contracts past Target 2 as “runners” in order to maximize gains on strongly trending days.
– The Initial Stop ratchets as price approaches Target 1.
The initial stop always starts off on the opposite side of the Dynamic Trigger Range and is based on the ATR’s and ranges in the market at the time. Since we are playing the “directional move of the session” the initial stop is designed to keep us in the trade through normal price fluctuation so we don’t get knocked out of a trade only to watch it trend in the direction we anticipated.
Speeding up the “first ratchet” of the Trailing Stop helps eliminate risk on trades that fizzle and don’t make it to the targets and reduces the number of “full stop-outs”. In certain instances this can result in a smaller stop-out, but the system is programmed to issue a new Alert for a re-entry if the price resumes its trend in the original direction.
*Under certain conditions the Trailing Stop may not move prior to Target 1 getting hit, as it’s programmed to take time and current momentum into consideration – in other words it’s “dynamic”.
Everything revolves around the calibration of the algo and these new modifications have greatly enhanced the accuracy of the system. It’s designed to adapt to any type of market environment.
– Once Target 1 gets hit the Trailing Stop moves / ratchets again and the trade is around “virtual breakeven”.
Since we are taking partial profits at Target 1 and moving the trailing stop at the same time, if the price reverses and tags the new Trailing Stop, the trade will typically result in a small gain or loss. So all we need is just enough follow-through momentum on a Breakout Alert to get us to Target 1 and we’re essentially in the clear for the trade – which can go on to make significant gains.
– When Target 2 gets hit the Trailing Stop moves to the area of the Entry – so any contracts held after that have virtually no risk of a loss.
Plus, since we have taken profits at Target 1 and Target 2 already, those profits are locked-in and it’s already a winning trade. Any contracts that are still held are managed using the Trailing Stop and are the “runner” that can be held to squeeze as much profit out of the move as possible.
– The Aggressive Trailing Stop kicks in after Target 2 gets hit – which is optional and for more aggressive traders to lock-in profits on a “runner” faster.
– The Parabolic Stop will appear under certain conditions where there’s a significant price spike and is designed to take profits when the price gets extremely extended in a short amount of time.
All in all the modifications and enhancements we made to the system at the beginning of 2021 were essentially “tweaks” to improve accuracy and profitability and made what was already a great system even better.
